Visit From The Mayor Of Hempstead
Mayor Waylyn Hobbs Jr. Visits SpringBoard Innovation Hub
August 2, 2021
By Tuly Reyes
Our purpose with Mayor Hobbs visit is to provide him with knowledge of our programs. SpringBoard provides many educational programs in STEM, with an emphasis on the “T” for Technology.
Today the Mayor was able to witness how students made the most of their summer at SpringBoard. We demo’ed parts of our 2D Game Development and “CapCha The Turtle Game”, autonomous robotics with Sphero SPR+ navigating our obstacle course, and our sophisticated PiCar that is programmed using Python, and is a self-driving, or the technical term: An Autonomous Driving Vehicle.
- We wanted to discuss further with the Mayor how we can help businesses in Hempstead through workshops for entrepreneurship, mentoring and business development.
- We want to also discuss how to create clear pathways to Internships, offers leadership skills, opportunities, experience.
- And finally, discuss raising the bar for after school programs in Hempstead by providing better enrichment and innovation workshops for our fellow students.
SpringBoard Incubators Inc welcomes Mr. Waylyn Hobbs Jr. He was elected mayor of the incorporated village of Hempstead. As a resident of 40 years, he has served the village in various capacities.
